Description

Edoardo Miroglio was founded in 2002 by the Italian entrepreneur Edoardo Miroglio, owner of Tenuta Carreta in Piobesi d’Alba.  He negotiated with about 1500 landowners and invested over 22 million euros to build this extraordinarily modern winery, which includes a hotel and spa. Edoardo Miroglio is situated in South East Bulgaria near Elenovo Village in the Thracian Lowlands. The total estate area is 1200 hectares, out of which 160 hectares are vineyards, planted with selected clones of international and indigenous Bulgarian grape varieties.

As of 2013, part of the vineyards were certified as organic. The head winemaker Desislava ‘Desi’ Baicheva is assisted by the world renowned consultant Marco Monchiero and viticulturist Alberto La Rosa from Italy.

The wide range of Edoardo Miroglio wines have made a big impact in the market. However, they truly shine in their production of world class champagne method sparkling wines as well as single varietal wines from Elenovo, tasting as if they were made in France or California. This winery is truly pushing the definition of quality and is incredibly exciting to watch.

Edoardo Miroglio is widely acknowledged as one of the top producers in Bulgaria. The wines are well loved and made with much detail and skill. The fast improving reputation for Bulgarian wine, as it spreads all over Europe and the United States, is largely thanks to their incredible efforts.

Producer Story

Edoardo Miroglio winery is an impressive 220 hectares of vineyards in Elenovo, Bulgaria. The village of Elenovo is located in the region of Thrace, where the origins of winemaking date back to the cult of Dionysus. It is thought that some native varieties, such as Mavrud, were already grown on the hills of southern Bulgaria more than 5,000 years ago. Edoardo Miroglio became certified organic in 2013, and is considered to be one of the most modern wineries in the country.
