About
Dick came into this world in 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Dick’s family had, what we would call, an “unofficial history” in the spirits business. And we don’t mean ghosts. Dick had an uncle who owned a bar that served homemade gin during the prohibition years, Prohibition be damned.
Everyone who knows Dick, knows how much he loves his whisky, served in a rocks glass over two ice cubes. Dick’s wife, Mary, would say, “Whisky makes Dick frisky.” Dick and Mary proudly raised five children. Not wanting a sixth, Mary devised a plan and enlisted the help of friends and relatives. She knew too much whisky made Dick “tired.” After a wink from Mary, the bartender knew what to ask. “Want another whisky, Dick?”
This whisky recipe from Dick’s father, dating back to 1892, was recently unearthed in a Southside Chicago backyard bar called “The Stables.” It is ready to be shared with other great bourbon chasers of this century.
The Whisky Dick’s bottle in your hand, is a gift from Dick and Mary’s five children. Enjoy Dick’s Whisky, call it “Old Number 6” if you like.
