Description
Winemaking Notes: Half of the Chenin Blanc, and all of the Riesling, was fermented to dryness on the skins, and all of the fruit received at least 2 hours on the skins. Fermentation occurred spontaneously with indigenous yeast. It is neither fined nor filtered before bottling.
Tasting Notes: The 2020 Mixtape White is drier and more balanced than the 2019, which had a touch of sweetness. The Gewurztraminer lifts the nose, providing floral top notes, while the skin-fermented portion brings more exotic aromatics. Texturally it has beautiful weight and roundness, a result of full malo and no fining or filtering. This is a wine you'll want to drink all year long, and it will complement a wide array of foods.
Cameron and Marlen Porter started Amplify Wines with the goal of making wines that enhance the most singular characteristics of a given vineyard, marrying a sense of place with a sense of style. Although not fans of dogma, there are certain winemaking and farming principles that are central to their beliefs: native yeast fermentations, neutral vessels for fermentation and aging, no additions of any kind beyond sulfur, embracing happy accidents and letting intuition be their guide, and farming that seeks to establish a healthy ecosystem, embracing the natural characteristics of a given place. And by following that intuition, they have created some gorgeous and authentic wines. Wines that truly amplify the voice of site.
