2023 Columbia Valley Grenache

100% Grenache

Our Columbia Valley Grenache is a blend of three great sites, Red Heaven Vineyard on Red Mountain and Seven Hills Vineyard and XL Vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley.  Our single vineyard Grenaches (there will be 4 in the 2023 vintage) explore the unique imprint of specific sites on the variety, but our Columbia Valley blend is a broader look at the vintage that showcases the pure joy and drinkablity that Grenache can bring to our region.

Bright, transparent ruby color of ripe raspberry, strawberry, baking spice and wild Washington herbs.

Fermented cool with gentle punchdowns, resulting in a perfumed and elegant style. The wine presents a vibrant, translucent ruby hue with notes of red currant, strawberry, orange peel, spice and Provençal herb.

Aged 11 months in neutral French Oak barrels.

About Us

In 2014, we left our careers as an attorney and fashion designer in California for a new life in the Pacific Northwest. After Matt returned to school to study enology and spent time working with several Washington wineries, we stumbled upon the auction of a small vineyard on the Southside of the Walla Walla Valley.

Planted with uncommon varieties, these first 5 acres became Grosgrain Vineyards, a winery dedicated to organic farming and wines of freshness and elegance.  The development of a subsequently acquired 80-acre property has allowed us to expand our range of grape varieties, with many unique or rare to our region.

Old Milton Vineyard

Located on a small hilltop just above the Walla Walla Valley floor at an elevation of 785 feet, Old Milton Vineyard is the site of our winery, tasting room and vacation rental, Casa Grosgrain. The property is planted to Nebbiolo and Aglianico, which were existing plantings, as well as Grenache and Carignan planted in 2018. The soils consist of deep and well-drained Walla Walla silt loam.

Grosgrain Vineyard

Grosgrain Vineyard is located on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla valley within the SeVein vineyard development. The property, which reaches a south-facing peak of the Vansycle basalt ridge, tops out at 1400 feet, making it one of the higher elevation sites in the Walla Walla Valley. Much of the vineyard features shallow wind-blown loess soils overlying fractured basalt. The 80 acre property began development with the first plantings in 2019 and is now our primary fruit source.
