INTERCEPT CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Tasting Notes
Our 2020 Intercept Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of ripe blackberries, red currants, and dried herbs. The wine is full-bodied with baking spice flavors and plush ripe fruit with a long, fine-grained tannin finish.
Food Pairing
Pair with anything off the BBQ, steaks, braised short ribs, and lamb chops.
Paso Robles
When making Intercept Cabernet Sauvignon we target vineyard sites with well-draining soils and good exposure. This helps us create a juicy, full-bodied wine. We age our Cabernet Sauvignon in French and Eastern European Oak for 18 months.
In his own words...
“My love of wine happened organically while in Napa Valley for training camp when I was playing for the Oakland Raiders early in my career. There I developed a great appreciation for wine and the people around it. As my career went along, more of us players started getting into wine. On road trips, we would bring bottles and break bread together. It was an experience that bonded us.
That’s one of the many ways I began to see the overlaps between wine and football.
When you watch a game on Sunday, you just see the final output of all the time us players put in the week before, maybe even the summer before. It’s the same with wine. You buy a bottle of wine, you open it, you drink it, and, hopefully, you’re satisfied with what you’re getting. You get to enjoy the final product, but don’t necessarily see all the work that went into it. The weather, the terroir, the blending – and everything else that affects that bottle. There are many pitfalls that can get in your way and potentially spoil everything you have worked so hard for!
I approach wine just like athletics: You can bruise your hip, or dislocate your shoulder, but you’ve still got to pull through on Sundays. You’ve still got to deliver world-class wines each vintage, and that's where you truly understand there’s no substitute for hard work.
I created Intercept as a thank you to my fans. I wanted to give them high quality wine at an affordable price because they deserve it. The name ‘Intercept’ is a nod to my career, but also a reminder that during every moment of your life, the possibilities are wide open. You just have to go get it.”

“I love it in Paso Robles; this is where I want to be making wine in 20 years. I’m from the Central Valley, and my family has a background in California agriculture that goes back three generations. I always wanted to experience new places but didn’t want to give up my small-town and farm-town roots. That’s what made Paso Robles perfect for me - the land and people are so authentic. Here we can make honest wine for real people.”
