2019 CHARDONNAY -- Fresh on the scene like a cool ocean breeze. Makes a strong first impression with a nose full of pears and clementines. Reminds you
of the good ol’ days spent watching the games, summery notes of ripe stone fruit, citrus and pie crust. One of the OGs — the “nearest thing to a perfect player” alongside any pairing.

New labels this year! We will no longer be changing up the labels on the Wonderwall Wines each year, but instead are evolving the look of the brand and really showcasing them as Field Recordings Wines. The Coquina Chardonnay is the main vineyard source for this vintage. It’s the bottom sandy soil vineyard under the Old Potrero Vineyard. We pick the Chardonnay from this vineyard in 4 stages to use across our brands. The first fruit to come off is the Chardonnay for the Fableist Blanc de Blanc (the leanest, most acid driven), then the fruit for the Dry Hop Pet Nat, then Wonderwall Chardonnay, and lastly the Fableist Chardonnay. We are picking early for the leanest more acid driven expression of the variety, then lastly for Fableist for a fuller more California style. There’s also a little bit of Morro View Vineyard and Carroll Ranch Vineyard here, all Edna Valley fruit. The wine has good minerality and a saline quality to it. Lower oak on this, and although it does go through malolactic fermentation, we would still consider this a lighter style Chardonnay showcasing apple, pear, and citrus with a wet concrete stone quality. Low sulfur in the vineyard so it naturally goes into ML. Chardonnay really sums up the viticulture element of winemaking really well. You can make such different style chardonnay depending on your vineyard source and when you pick.
