Bodega Ontañón is a multi-generational, family-owned winery located in Rioja baja.
Our 250 hectares (ca.620 acres) of vineyard land sit high in the Sierra Yerga Mountains outside of the township of Quel, which has been one of Rioja’s outstanding winemaking centers for three centuries. We take great pride in maintaining these vineyards in the most sustainable manner possible, as it is our land that supports our family tradition in wine. “Passion for the vine, passion for wine and passion for art” is our motto, as we believe that each of these elements contributes to the human experience and illustrates the vital connection of the land to people and culture.
Ontañón is renewed, recreated. We were the dream of a family from La Rioja. We are the materialization of that longing of Gabriel and Mari Luz. We are Raquel, Leticia, Rubén and María. A family of wines, landscapes and people. And we will be for all that we have been and all that we dream of being. Wines with the memory of our ancestors. Wines with the restlessness of our children. Ontañón reinvents itself with the past as an ally, with the time lived as memory, with our eyes set on the future that we guess fascinating, enlightening, rich in adventures. Ontañón is Clásico and Insólito, and like all families, with Versos Sueltos that playfully slip through the fingers like a drop of wine.

We produce a portfolio of wines that define their essence through the painstaking selection of the grapes and years of aging and cellaring in the barrel and bottle cellars of our winery.
